NILA

Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and NILA (“NILA”, “we”) for the use of nilastudy.com. By creating an account you accept them, together with the Privacy Policy.

1. The service

NILA is a study tool: you upload your own material, NILA generates cards from it with the help of AI models, and schedules their review with spaced repetition. We may add, change or remove features; if a change materially reduces what a paid plan gives you, you may cancel and ask for a refund of the unused part of the period.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 16, or have a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
  • Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and one account is for one person.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account; tell us at once if it is compromised.

3. Your content

What you upload and the cards made from it remain yours. You give NILA a limited licence to store, process and display that content — including sending it to the AI providers named in the Privacy Policy — solely to provide the service to you. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload. Lecture slides, textbooks and recordings often belong to someone else; using them for your own private study is your responsibility under the law that applies to you. Decks you choose to share with other people must not infringe anyone’s rights.

4. Courses you share

You can share a subject of your library as a course: anyone with its link can read it, and people with an account get more of NILA’s tools on it. Shared courses are not listed on NILA or in search engines, but anyone who has the link can open it, and links can be passed on. Readers see your first name, the subject’s title and its notes.

Share only what you have the right to share. Lecture notes, recordings and slides can be protected by the rights of whoever gave the lecture or wrote the material, and some universities do not allow them to be passed on. You are responsible for what you share, under your university’s rules and the law that applies to you.

You can stop sharing a course at any time; its link then opens nothing. If you believe a shared course infringes your rights or should not be shared, write to [email protected] with its link. We may take down any shared course that is reported to us or that breaks these terms, without notice.

5. The sharing reward

When 10 people who made their NILA account through your links have each read at least three sections of your shared notes, you get the Class plan free for one month. It renews for another month each time at least 10 of them read your notes during the month just ending; when it does not, your account goes back to the Free plan, unless you have bought a plan.

The reward is given once per account, and only to an account on the Free plan. It has no cash value and cannot be exchanged or transferred. Accounts made, or reading done, only to earn it do not count: where we see that, we may withhold or end the reward and take down the shared course.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • upload unlawful content, malware, or other people’s sensitive personal data;
  • attack, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or get around plan limits;
  • resell the service or share one account between several people;
  • use the service to build a competing product or to train AI models.

We may suspend or close accounts that do, with notice where that is reasonable.

7. AI-generated cards

Cards, explanations and Ask AI answers are produced by AI models and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. NILA is a study aid, not a source of authority: check what matters against your own material, and do not rely on it for medical, legal or other professional decisions. You can edit, report or delete any card.

8. Plans, payment and renewal

  • NILA has a free plan and paid plans (Student, Learner), billed monthly or yearly in euro. Current prices are shown on the Upgrade page before you pay and include VAT where it applies.
  • Payment is handled by Stripe. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price then in force, until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the plan until the period you paid for ends.
  • If we change a price, we tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to your renewal.
  • The education discount is for people with a valid university address and may be withdrawn if it was obtained incorrectly.
  • If a payment fails, we may move the account to the free plan. Your cards are not deleted.

9. Right of withdrawal and refunds

If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA or UK, you may withdraw from your first purchase of a paid plan within 14 days, without giving a reason, and receive a full refund: write to [email protected] from your account’s address. Outside that, payments are not refundable for periods already begun, except where the law or these terms say otherwise.

10. NILA’s rights

The software, design, name and everything else that makes up NILA, other than your content, belong to NILA. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service, and nothing more.

11. Availability

We work to keep NILA available and your data safe, but the service is provided “as is”, without a guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. Keep copies of material that matters to you; decks can be exported from the app.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life and health, nor your statutory rights as a consumer. Beyond that, NILA is not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including exam results — and its total liability to you is limited to what you paid NILA in the twelve months before the claim arose.

13. Ending the agreement

You may close your account at any time by writing to [email protected] from its address. We may end the agreement with 30 days’ notice, or at once for a serious breach of these terms; if we end it without a breach on your side, we refund the unused part of any paid period.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For changes that matter we give at least 30 days’ notice in the app or by email; if you do not agree, you may cancel before they take effect. Continuing to use NILA after that means you accept them.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Hungary. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live and may bring proceedings there. EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform. Most things are solved faster by writing to [email protected] first.
